Color My World
I am contacted almost daily with so much information and I have to reach out and contact others and share information. It can be a little overwhelming sometimes. But every now and then something comes across my desk that just really helps or intrigues me. Now, what I am about to share, most of us have seen in one form or another. Some trainers break it down by color, some by precious jewels, some just by "personality types" but it is all the same. Each and every one of us has a different way of looking at our world. Because of this each and every one of us will need to be approached in a different way. By realizing what type of person you are and what type of person you are talking to or sharing information with you can do a better job of sharing that information. What color are you?
Yellow: open and indirect A yellow is WAY more concerned for others than for themselves. They are the givers; they want to help.
Yellows are great listeners, dependable, patient and nurturing. They love people and are the best team players.
But they tend to be oversensitive and take things way to personally. They will always conform and don’t set goals or objectives. So the best way to work with a yellow is to plug them into all the training and support make them accountable; touch base with them often. If you make them feel like they are part of a team and let them know they have someone they can turn to for leadership they will connect with you and help you all the way to success.
Blue: open and direct Blues are the party animal and want constant contact and attention.
A blue will be successful at almost anything they set their mind too; they love to promote, motivate and convince others to do something. They can see the big picture and are creative dynamos.
They may be able to create it but have a hard time sticking with it; they are unorganized and jump from one thing to the next.
So with a blue you want to get this person plugged into the system; make sure they understand the system in order to keep them organized. Help them to stay organized and watch them take off.
Green: self-contained and indirect Greens have to know it all; have all the information and analyze it to death.
They are supremely organized and dependable. They can solve any problem and are persistent with their follow through.
Problem is they can’t make a decision and tend towards being pessimistic.
To help a green; highlight their strengths, show them how their ability to organize and focus is needed and that they just can’t wait or they will lose a chance to learn more.
Red: self-contained and direct Red’s are the confident and self centered center of it all.
They know what they want and when they want it; independent and certain they are great risk takers, leaders and negotiators with energy to burn.
But reds don’t like to be coached or mentored.
So how do you help a red. You let them make their mistake; show them specifically how it will not work (with examples). Once they have failed they tend to be willing to reach out and learn something.
Now figure out what color you are; learn from the pros and the cons so that not only do you know what appoach works for you but how to use your personality type to best approach other colors and make a rainbow…
